Combat Spec Ops is a retro team-based, tactical TPS (Third Person Shooter) based on close quarters combat and objective-oriented multiplayer gameplay. Experience the intensity of modern combat where skill is rewarded, and teamwork wins the fight. Prepare for a hardcore depiction of combat with deadly ballistics, light attack vehicles, destructive artillery across a wide range of gameplay modes.
We are focused on our initial launch on Steam to start with. Additional platforms, including mobile and console are on the roadmap for future releases.
The initial set of maps is designed for up to 32 players in a single match, however we do intend on creating both larger and smaller maps to support a wider variety of players and play styles.
Yes absolutely, we will host official servers as well as make the dedicated server available to the community so they can host their own servers. We will provide both Linux and Windows server executables.
Yes absolutely! We have a full range of ground and air vehicles planned for the medium and larger maps!
We are building CSO with Unity, an engine our team has decades of experience with. Additionally we are using the battle tested Photon Fusion networking stack which provides all of the advanced networking features that a game like this requires.
Our current plan is to ship early in the new year (around February), however we are a very small indie team (with day jobs), so this may change. Stay tuned to our Steam page (or this FAQ) for more information about release dates.
We have been heavily inspired by old-school Counterstrike, Battlefield and similar shooters. From game modes, to weapons and vehicles, much of Combat Spec Ops will feel familiar. The primary difference is the 3rd person nature of the game.
First person mode will be available for select sniper rifles while zoomed in. Otherwise the game is entirely third person.
Yes we do plan to have in-app purchases. These will be entirely optional and exclusively to provide players the ability to customize player and weapon skins. Any customization will have no impact on gameplay.
We are also looking into how to best support modding and other 3rd party customization as well.
